Okay, so I've traveled a lot, but there are just some things about living in a different country that I find so strange.
For example:
- you do not take your shoes off in the house. Weird? I can't bring myself to do it, so I just wear the super awesome clog slippers that my family bought me as a welcome present.
- you leave front and back door wide open when you're at home, as does everyone in the neighborhood. And no, there are no screen doors or screens on the windows
- you do not drink caffeinated coffee (definitely something specific to my family, but still weird, no?)
- there are doors everywhere (maybe this is just my house, I dunno). Like the between the living room and hallway, there's a door. Between the kitchen and the hallway, there's a door. There's a door before the stairs. And a door at the end of the hall. There are doors everywhere!
- Refrigerators look like cupboard doors, same with the dishwasher (again, specific to my house?)
- they call grilled cheese sandwiches toastee's (side note: do not google that word to see if it's spelled correctly)
And another list, Things that I love so far:
- my room. It's so comfortable, I just love it in every way. I have to remind myself to not spend all my time up here, that's how much I love it.
- the kids. They are so so so great. They're the girliest non-girlie girls (wow, I think I just coined a new phrase). They wear dresses and look adorable nonstop, but they're absolutely obsessed with catching bugs and making mud and collecting leaves and berries
- the bakery is located dangerously close to my house
- stoopwafels (you're safe to google that one)
- non decafinated coffee...aka: real coffee
- They're called tosti's :P
ReplyDelete- Refrigerators and dishwashers look like cupboards everywhere (you've been at my parents right? ;))
- Stroopwafels :D
- Doors are useful (?)
Thank you for clarifying the spelling, Sander. And you're wrong, refrigerators and dishwashers do not look like cupboards everywhere. Just over here. It's weird.
ReplyDeleteAnd I really just don't understand the door thing.
