First day as an au pair

Well, I'm typing this, so obviously I survived my first day as an au pair.  It was, well....painful actually.  Not because of the children though (they're sweethearts, I'll write about them after I finish complaining) but because of a bad combination of jet lag and church bells.  There are two churches within ear shot of my house and they ring every 15 minutes, even at night (though the nighttime ring is a lot less elaborate).  That woke me up at 3am and I just could not fall back asleep because my body is still on Alberta time.  So I've been surviving on 10 hours of sleep since Friday.  That pretty much equates to me being dumb and slow- the perfect combination of Kaylee to start a new job! But even with very little sleep, decaffeinated coffee (after my 3rd cup I was really confused as to why I was still feeling like a bag of garbage and then I was informed that they don't do caffeine), and running the house solo on my first day because both Jerry and Kristel had to work, the day was a success.  I got the kids to school on time for their first day, I didn't mess up their lunch schedules, and I dealt with an insulin-dependent child who didn't end up in a coma at the end of the day (bonus!).

I have so much more to say but my motivation to write a long post has been stomped out by the setting sun.  I am exhausted and have been ready to sleep for hours already.  In my spare time (which I seem to have a lot of) tomorrow, I'm going to go for a walk and take some pictures!!  Love to all my family and friends!

  2. No pictures yet, but I promise they'll come one day. It was so gloomy today, I decided against the picture adventure.
